The wedding countdown is officially on for Sabrina Ionescu.
The star Liberty guard revealed Wednesday she’ll be marrying Raiders offensive lineman Hroniss Grasu “in a couple of months” following their January engagement.
“It’s a great love story. A little Oregon Ducks love story,” she said on the CBS morning show. “He played football at the University of Oregon. He’s a little older than me but we met as alumni from there and we’re now getting married in a couple of months.”
Ionescu posted photos on Instagram of the romantic scene shortly after the pair got engaged Jan. 20, which featured a backdrop of flowers and elevated candles in the shape of a giant heart.
“It’s always us here’s to forever with you 1.20.23 #finally,” Ionescu wrote in her post.
Ionescu, 25, began her decorated career at Oregon in 2016, one year after Grasu, 32, was drafted by the Bears in 2015.
Notably, she is the first NCAA player, male or female, to tally 2,000 points,1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists in her college career.
Ionescu was selected No.1 overall by the Liberty in the 2020 WNBA Draft.
Since arriving in New York, Ionescu has earned two All-Star nods and is currently one of the leading figures of a championship contender.
Ionescu is averaging 17.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists this season as the Liberty hold the second-best record in the league (28-7), only behind the defending champion Aces (30-6).
The Liberty, however, have topped the Aces multiple times this month, including Monday’s 94-85 victory.
The Liberty have five games remaining in the regular season before playoffs begin.
It’s going to be a busy time for the couple as Grasu is gearing up for the NFL season, which begins in September.
As for Ionescu, she launched her SI20 Foundation on Wednesday in hopes of providing “equitable access to sports by giving DREAM students an up close and personal experience to learn and grow in their basketball careers,” according to the organization’s release.
