Katharine McPhee and David Foster break their silence on nanny’s death

Katharine McPhee and David Foster are still at a loss following the tragic death of their son’s nanny, Yadira Calito.

The couple broke their silence about the incident during an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Thursday.

“It’s been tough for [McPhee],” Foster, 73, said. “Yeah, it’s been tough. She’s managing.”

McPhee, 39, chimed in: “Thank you.”

Calito died at age 55 after being hit at a Toyota dealership in California’s San Fernando Valley on Aug. 9. She was waiting for her car to be serviced when she was hit.

The driver, an 84-year-old woman from Mission Hills, California, was not hurt but injured two employees and a customer. According to a LAPD press release, the driver accelerated for unknown reasons inside the building.

Amid the news, McPhee abruptly left Foster’s “Hitman” tour in Asia.

“Dearest Jakarta fans, it’s with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final two shows of our Asia run,” she shared via Instagram at the time. “David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family. Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all. Love Katharine.””
