Josh Giddey’s agent has been fired for reasons having nothing to do with his client’s own controversy.
Giddey, a guard on the Thunder, is facing police and NBA investigations over allegations he had inappropriate relations with an underage girl, although TMZ reported the teen has been refusing to cooperate with the authorities.
One of his agents, Daniel Moldovan, was fired by the large agency Octagon in the wake of a vulgar response to a Black Lives Matter post on social media, journalist Ethan Strauss reported on his “House of Strauss” Substack page.
In the wake of the Hamas massacre on Israel on Oct. 7, the Chicago chapter of Black Lives Matter posted a photo of a paraglider — eliciting imagery from the attacks — with the captions “I stand with Palestine” and “That’s all it is!”
Moldovan, an Australian power agent who is Jewish, lashed out at the BLM post on Instagram.
“72 hours after terrorists paraglided into a music festival and slaughtered 260 young people,” Moldovan wrote at the time.
“This is how BLM chose to symbolize where their support lies. F–k BLM and anybody who supports them.”
BLM Chicago has since deleted its paraglider tweet.
Octagon confirmed to House of Strauss that Moldovan was fired for his post.
“Octagon became aware that Daniel Moldovan made divisive, disparaging, and corrosive remarks that do not represent our values or what we stand for,” the agency said in a statement.
“We immediately launched an investigation into the reported incident. It was determined that Daniel’s comments and actions were in gross violation of our policies that are in place to protect the longstanding integrity of the company, its employees and clients, and we promptly terminated his employment.”
Moldovan declined to comment on the record to House of Strauss.
