‘Jeopardy!’ fans outraged after Lisa Ann Walter win is revealed thanks to Jimmy Kimmel blunder
What is a spoiler alert?
Several “Celebrity Jeopardy!” fans were left outraged after a promo for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” seemingly spoiled Lisa Ann Walter’s $1 million win.
According to several eagle-eyed viewers, the accident occurred when ABC aired a promo for Tuesday night’s show stating that Walter, 60, would be appearing.
“Since Lisa Ann Walter is on @jimmykimmel tonight, is it safe to say she won? I don’t want to assume or spoil anything,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“Maybe it really is just a coincidence,” a second fan seethed. “But it feels pretty shitty of ABC to promote that one of the contestants in ‘Celebrity Jeopardy!’ championship is going to be on Kimmel later that night. Definitely felt like a spoiler when I saw that.”
“Not cool,” tweeted a third fan. “Right at the beginning of the final there was a commercial scroll saying that champion Lisa Ann would be on Kimmel. Not cool.”
One irate fan went as so far as to tag the network itself stating: “Thanks for the spoiler on the Celebrity Jeopardy winner with the in-show pop-up ad for Jimmy Kimmel’s guest Lisa Ann Walter 20 seconds into the tournament final.”
Sadly, many of the show’s fans were correct in the assumption that the “Abbott Elementary” alum would go on to beat out journalist Mo Rocca and sports TV host Katie Nolan and win the million-dollar prize for the Entertainment Community Fund.
Walter was reportedly unaware that any discourse was happening as the “Parent Trap” star also tweeted a bunch of photos promoting her appearance on Kimmel’s show.
“We pause the celebratory jeopardy dance to party with @jimmykimmel tonight,” the “Shall We Dance?” actress wrote.
In addition to the generous donation, the “Bruce Almighty” star also received a massive trophy which she called “the heaviest plastic piece of crap” and said she already has a place picked out for it.
“This incredibly tacky item has been sitting right underneath my television, right in front of my little recliner where I can look at it every day that I watch ‘Jeopardy’,” she told Kimmel, 56. “Front and center.”
This is not the first time Jeopardy has come under scrutiny recently.
Last week, Rosie O’Donnell slammed the TV show after it was interrupted due to a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game.
“OK, I hate when ‘Jeopardy!’ is not on because of sports,” O’Donnell, 61, said in a TikTok video. “Now, I love sports, I love football, I love basketball. But it’s kinda early in the season. We’re still in football [season].”
“We don’t need to cancel ‘Jeopardy!’ do we,” the “A League of Their Own” actress whined. “I mean, come on people — it’s ‘Jeopardy!’”
“Every night of my life I watch it,” the “Sleepless in Seattle” alum stated after reciting Johnny Gilbert’s iconic “This is Jeopardy!” opening line.
