Walmart employee claims she was fired for confronting shopper toting unclothed baby in freezing temps

A Mississippi Walmart employee claims she was fired after posting a video of a shopper who was carting a baby dressed only in diapers during last week’s cold snap.

Facebook user Fee Nicole took to the platform on Sunday to post a picture of the young toddler sitting in the cart in the middle of a Jackson location of the chain, wearing just the diaper while his female caregiver was clad in boots pants and a sweater.

It was unclear what day the footage was taken, but temperatures reached as low as 19 degrees in Jackson on Sunday as the Deep South was in a brutal freeze, according to Wunder Ground.

In the clip, a Walmart employee was seen putting a sweatshirt on the child before a confrontation erupted.

“He can’t be here without that jacket on,” a woman was heard saying off camera.

“That baby just had a Pamper on,” another woman chimed in.

“He’s sitting there shaking now,” a man was heard saying.

As the onlookers voiced concern, the apparent mother of the baby was filmed tossing a bag of frozen vegetables in the cart, bouncing the package off the young child.

“She’s throwing cold food on this child. What’s wrong with you?” the man demanded, according to the footage.

“Lower your voice, who are you,” the caregiver snapped back at the concerned shopper.

“Get out that man face please,” a woman was heard saying.

“You’re crazy,” the man told the woman with the baby, before she turned around the aisle and delivered a vulgar rant, pausing only to twerk briefly for the camera.

“Somebody call the police on her,” a woman was heard saying.

“Go ahead some people already called two times … as long as you got hot water, fire extinguisher…” the caregiver retorted.

“But when you come in the store fully dressed and your baby’s not…,” the woman countered.

“I’m calling the cops right now,” the man said

Nicole, who was identified as Felicia Nicole by other outlets, took to Facebook to say she had been terminated following the incident.

“Yessss I got fired bc of this video..,” Nicole wrote.

“No I wasn’t thinking about the consequences when I posted the video.. I was concerned about the baby thats all and I pray that child somewhere safe now!!!”

Neither Nicole nor Jackson Police immediately responded to a request for comment.

In a statement to The Post, Walmart said it shares “the concern others have for the child in the video.”

“We don’t discuss personnel matters involving current or former associates,” the statement continued.

“All associates are encouraged and empowered to use their judgment in contacting authorities when they see something that may be wrong, however all associates are also expected to follow the Walmart Code of Conduct.”
