Observations from the Jets’ training camp practice on Thursday.
Takk’s day
The Jets might have found a keeper in defensive end Takk McKinley.
The former first round-pick of the Falcons has had a strong training camp when he’s been healthy.
On Thursday, he had what would have been a sack of Bryce Young and some strong reps in one-on-one drills with the Panthers offensive line.
Seeing red
Young hit an open Terrace Marshall for a touchdown during the red-zone period.
It looked like there was a miscommunication between cornerback Sauce Gardner and safety Tony Adams.
The Jets defense had a rough time in the red-zone period, giving up three touchdowns.
Caught my eye
Former Jets general manager John Idzik attended Thursday’s practice.
Idzik’s son, Brad, is in his first season as the Panthers offensive coordinator.
Prior to practice, Idzik caught up with Quincy Enunwa, who is here working for the Jets.
Idzik drafted Enunwa in the sixth round of the 2014 draft — the famed Idzik 12.
Rodgers report
The Jets quarterback went 15-for-23 with a touchdown and two interceptions against the Panthers.
One of the interceptions came on a dropped ball by Allen Lazard.
He led the team down the field for a touchdown on the last series of the day, finding Garrett Wilson in the front of the end zone.
Injury report
DT Quinnen Williams (shoulder) did not practice.
Jets coach Robert Saleh said he is not concerned about the injury and Williams would have been able to play had this been a game.
