Lame-duck Biden urges Trump to ‘get a job’ while spending dwindling moments of his own with Martin Sheen

WASHINGTON — President Biden urged former President Donald Trump to “get a job” Thursday — as the retiring chief executive shook hands with actor Martin Sheen, who played the American president in the TV series “The West Wing.”

Trump, 78, is indeed attempting to land a new job — Biden’s own — in the Nov. 5 election and currently runs the Trump Organization, which owns and operates hotels, golf courses and other commercial interests.

“Mr. Trump says he wants to make America affordable again. Your response?” a reporter asked Biden, 81, as he departed the White House en route to an event with Vice President Kamala Harris, who has replaced Biden as the Democratic nominee.

“He ought to get a job,” Biden fired back.

Trump is campaigning on affordability after inflation caused costs to jump 20% since Biden took office.

When another reporter asked if he had “any regrets,” Biden said, “talking to you guys” — one day after shushing a female journalist who had tried to ask him about Venezuela’s disputed election results.

The retiring president told yet another journalist, who asked if he would meet with the Vatican’s new ambassador to Washington, “I gotta check with my mom” while pointing at the sky.

“The West Wing” was popular among aspiring politicians and is frequently referenced by current officeholders.

Biden shook Sheen’s hand before boarding Marine One for a short flight to Prince George’s County in Maryland — where he and Harris touted the pending price reduction of 10 prescription drugs available to senior citizens enrolled in Medicare Part D.

Those reductions are set to take effect in 2026 and were made possible through Biden’s 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.

Although Biden jabbed at Trump’s employment situation, he mused about his own on Wednesday when addressing social media content creators.

“I’m looking for a job,” Biden said — making light of the fact that fellow Democrats forced him out of the presidential race last month over concerns about his mental acuity.
