Derek Jeter delivers hilarious Taylor Swift burn to Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz during Fox pregame

Derek Jeter seemingly wanted to avoid an awkward “love triangle” exchange between David Ortiz, Mr. Met and Mrs. Met following Game 5 on Friday, and two days later, before the NLCS resumed in Los Angeles, the former Yankees shortstop used a description of a Taylor Swift concert to jokingly describe his partners on the pregame show.

Matt Vasgersian, filling in for Kevin Burkhardt as the Fox Sports host, asked Jeter what he did on the off day between Games 5 and 6, and Jeter said he was in Miami.

“I took my girls to the Taylor Swift concert,” Jeter responded, referencing her show at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday. “I got a chance to hang out with a bunch of teenagers and toddlers. Very similar to what I do here at Fox.”

Jeter’s jab prompted some laughter from Ortiz and Alex Rodriguez on the set.

But after Friday’s game, when the Mets extended their season by another with a 12-6 victory, Jeter walked off the set during an awkward juncture of the postgame show.

When Ortiz invited Mrs. Met onto the set, and Mr. Met followed suit, he said, “See Kevin when you win everything is shareable. I just make that up, everything is shareable.”

“Is this a love triangle?” Burkhardt chimed back. “I think this is a show for another network.”

During that time, Jeter rose from his seat and left the set without saying a word, while the exchange between Ortiz, Mr. Met and Mrs. Met continued.

The trio of analysts were in Los Angeles on Sunday for Game 6 of the NLCS, with the Mets needing a win to keep their season alive.

But if the Dodgers can escape with a victory in a bullpen game, they’ll face the Yankees in the World Series and host Game 1 on Friday.

The Mets took an early lead in the first inning after Francisco Lindor walked, advanced to second and scored when Pete Alonso’s ball near second base prompted an errant throw from Chris Taylor.

But the Dodgers grabbed the lead right back in the bottom of the frame, as Tommy Edman continued his postseason tear to score Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernández.
