Juan Soto’s record Mets contract gives him No. 22 alongside slew of unusual perks

Juan Soto’ contract details were obtained, and even beyond the historic $765 million in salary, with escalators that could bring it $805M, an opt-out after five years, a full no-trade, awards bonuses (including $500K for a first MVP and $1M for each subsequent MVP), there are unusual perks galore.

The deal is the largest in sports history, though two other teams were in whisper range (the Yankees and Jays at $760M, though the Yankees deal was over 16 years).

So even though the Mets have superstar Francisco Lindor, there’s no question who the man of the Mets is — the guy whose deal is twice that of Lindor’s $341M deal.

The big deal is noticed by everyone around the game, and the pressure has increased, fairly.

“The Mets better win or he’s going to be the Aaron Rodgers of Queens,” one MLB executive said.

Soto has the usual award bonuses in his contract but also has many extra perks you don’t often or ever see, even including his No. 22 uniform.

He did, as The Post reported, receive a luxury suite at Citi Field, plus four premium tickets to home games.

Soto is a big family man, so it was no surprise he also got security for himself and family at home and on the road and additional notation for “family services,” though those weren’t defined in the copy obtain by The Post.
