Wendy Williams clashes with her caretakers after her son’s graduation: ‘They left my scooter’
Wendy Williams got into a heated argument with her caretakers after celebrating her son Kevin Jr.’s college graduation last week.
During the incident caught on camera by the “We in Miami” podcast crew, the 60-year-old former talk show host yelled at her team for allegedly leaving her mobility scooter in the middle of the street when they left her son’s graduation dinner in Miami.
“And then both of you walked away leaving my s – – t in the middle of the street like this,” said Williams, who is battling early onset dementia.
“Just get the car please,” she told her team. “Make sure it’s the right car.”
The person who was filming the incident then asked Williams, “Wendy, what happened? What they do?”
“They got the wrong car, so I knocked on the door and it was the totally wrong car,” Williams explained. “They left my scooter as they walked over there.”
“Leaving my most precious, most … this cost a f – – king mint motherf – – ker,” Williams added.
The Emmy nominated star used a mobility scooter as she watched her 24-year-old son get his diploma from Florida International University.
“They just left my s – – t out there,” Williams added in the video as she drove off in her scooter.
The footage then cut to Williams continuing to yell at her team to get the car.
“Get the car over here, not over there, so I can go easily into the street for the car,” she said. “They supposed to be ordering the car, that’s what you’re supposed to be doing.”
“They wanna work for me, that’s what they’re supposed to be doing,” Williams added. “They’re making money from me, get the goddamn car.”
Following the clip of Williams, the host of “We in Miami” explained the background behind why Williams was so upset with her caretaking team.
“Apparently they wanted her to be in her wheelchair when she was leaving the restaurant, and she wanted to walk cause she felt like she was capable of walking,” the host said. “So Kevin, her son, actually picked the wheelchair up and walked it outside the restaurant and Wendy walked.”
“So, I think, according to Wendy’s family, she was really upset about the disorganization and the lack of care,” he continued. “She indicated the car was not close to assure she was like, even getting into the right car. It was just really messy, so she was really upset and her family was really upset, too.”
Williams made a rare public appearance at her son’s college graduation on Thursday, Dec. 19. She was joined by her father, Thomas Williams Sr., 93, and her sister, Wanda Finnie.
During the graduation ceremony, a beaming Williams cried and wiped away tears as Kevin walked across the stage and received his diploma.
The former “Wendy Williams Show” host was flanked by armed police officers as she exited the commencement and got in to a waiting vehicle. Kevin was seen shaking hands with one of the officers.
Last month, Williams’ legal guardian Sabrina Morrissey declared that the TV personality “has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated” as a result of her early onset dementia.
The claim was recorded in a Nov. 12 court filing Morrissey submitted in her ongoing legal battle with A+E Networks, the cable network she alleges exploited Williams in the Lifetime docuseries “Where Is Wendy Williams?” (Lifetime is a subsidiary of A+E).
Williams was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in 2023 after the docuseries wrapped, though she reportedly showed symptoms indicative of the condition — which includes memory loss — from the beginning of production.
The former radio DJ has been under a court-ordered guardianship that oversees her health and finances since 2022 after her bank, Wells Fargo, alleged she was “incapacitated.”
