The 2024 Olympics are open, and early in the first official day of competition comes swimming events featuring one of Team USA’s brightest stars: Katie Ledecky.
Ledecky, the 7-time Olympic gold medalist, returns for her fourth Olympic Games, and this year, she’ll be competing in four freestyle events. With the 400m already in the rearview, Ledecky has a bronze medal from this year’s Olympics.

The United States Women’s Swimming team as a whole will be in action through Sunday, August 4. Their rivalry in the pool with the Australian swimming team will surely be a storyline that defines this competition. Additionally, Ledecky will likely face Canadian Summer McIntosh, 18, who beat her in the 800m back in February; it marked her first loss in the race in 13 years.
Ledecky is continuing to go for gold, and that starts today with some of the earliest races of the competition. Below, we outlined everything you need to know to tune in to United States women’s swimming races at the 2024 Olympics.
