There is one movie that has bouncing around the release schedule for some time and I’ve been lying in wait for it to land on my flipper so I could breathe a sigh of relief. Today is that day. “The Box,” starring Cameron Diaz & James Marsden has finally gotten the trailer treatment and a release date — which just so happens to be my birthday, so treats all around!
In the film, Cameron — sporting a slightly unconvincing Southern accent — and James play a down on their luck couple who are given a mysterious gift: a box, featuring a big red button that if pushed will kill a stranger and earn them $1 million.
But nothing is that simple in the land of Richard Kelly, the director of this film, “Southland Tales” and “Donnie Darko” (a PopWrap fave). So check out the trailer and weigh in: is “The Box” a worthy follow-up to “Donnie” or another “Southland” tale?
