You must know: Kay

When I think of Canada, I think of show, free health care and people who talk silly. But never, do I ever, think of hardcore pop chicks — most of those gals are born and bred in Sweden (Robyn much).

However free health care better move over because the Canadian bread Kay is here to represent all the coolest Mounties up north.

Her room-demanding voice is a little bit Britney Spears, her spot on flow is everything Ke$ha shoulda’ been, and the loops she forms with each ohh and ahh make her seem like Oh Land’s funky lil sis. Recently signed to Universal/Interscope Records, Kay is said to be working with a cornucopia of major bang-makers like Ryan Tedder (OneRepulic), DJ Tiesto and Steve Aoki.

Yes people, she is that versatile.

With the few tracks Kay has rotating online, there is no real way to pinpoint her genre, which only makes her more addicting. From the synth-pop alpha-vocals of “M.A.J.O.R” to her first single, the old school Salt-N-Pepa sounding “My Name is Kay,” every ounce of her energy works like audio MSG, making you crave more and more and more.

Take a listen to the two previously mentioned tracks below, and snag her debut album, rumored to be out sometime this Fall.
