Facebook not his friend

Facebook isn’t going to be friending Robert Gibbs anytime soon. Despite a story in the New York Times that Facebook is “seeking out” the bubbly former White House press secretary to manage the company’s communications and “pressing Mr. Gibbs to consider the job more quickly,” sources tell Page Six the interview with President Obama‘s former mouthpiece didn’t go too well. A source said, “Some people liked him, some people liked him a lot and others didn’t. It wouldn’t be fair to say the date was great, but it wouldn’t be fair to say the date was terrible. There was no marriage proposal.” Some speculated that Gibbs planted the Times story to appear in demand. Gibbs told us by e-mail, “I am not the source of [Andrew Ross Sorkin‘s] story . . . the only time I have ever dealt with him was to tell him I had no comment.” Gibbs followed up with a call: “Nobody has offered me anything . . . I’m giving speeches. I’m not going to comment on any of this stuff.” Facebook had no comment.
