Adding another piece of supporting evidence that not winning “American Idol” can sometimes be better for your career theory, Paul McDonald has already snagged a crazy cool post-elimination gig — all thanks to his girlfriend, “Twilight” star Nikki Reed.
Apparently she was chatting with co-star Peter Facinelli about “Loosies,” an indie film he wrote and stars in, when the soundtrack subject was broached and she threw Paul’s name out there.
“I played some tracks over [the movie], where we had temp tracks, and it just all worked,” Peter tells MTV News. “So I reached out to Paul, I sent him the movie, and he enjoyed it a lot, and he said he wanted to be a part of it, which I was stoked.”
“We’ll probably use most of the music from the two albums he has out now on iTunes,” Peter added about Paul’s pre-“Idol” bands, Grand Magnolias and High Tide Blues.
To get a sense of what “Loosies” (about an NYC pickpocket) will sound like, check out a pair of Paul’s performances and marvel at how going to that “Red Riding Hood” premiere was possibly the best thing that ever happened to him.
