ABC staffers have been whispering for months about World News Executive Producer Jon Banner’s future at the network as he has been “holed up in his office” and rarely running the nightly news show hosted by Diane Sawyer.
While some speculated that Banner was on his way out with deputy Michael Corn running the day-to-day operations of the show, ABC will announce today that Banner has been promoted to senior executive producer of ABC News, now responsible for all division-wide initiatives.
Corn will move into the executive producer seat at World News and Banner will continue to lead ABC News’ political coverage for the 2012 election.
