Only in Palm Beach can you crash a borrowed Lamborghini, then rock up to a party late and carefree. Freelance fashion journo Jim Shi rolled up to a dinner at the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach Friday after he was rear-ended by a truck while driving a $200,000 gray Lamborghini Gallardo Bicolore. He’d been loaned the car to tool around in while attending a weekend of events hosted by Eric Villency at the Ritz. “The Lambo is really low, and [the truck] didn’t see me,” Shi explained. “Luckily we were in standstill traffic, and there was only superficial damage.” Shi, still at the wheel of the stricken Lambo yesterday, joined socialites Jessica Joffe, Waris Ahluwalia, Johan Lindeberg, Douglas Hannant, Michelle Harper and Sabine Heller at Friday’s dinner and Saturday’s party at the hotel’s Eau Spa, where guests had to duck out of the way of falling fish after an ice sculpture displaying sushi cracked and fell into the spa’s wading pool, resulting in some unappetizing floating futomaki.
