Channing Tatum to make Evel Knievel movie

Channing Tatum’s going from “Magic Mike” to Evel Knievel.

Tatum, who’s hot off the sucesses of “21 Jump Street” and his new male stripper movie, “Magic Mike,” is in talks to star in and produce a film for Columbia Pictures about the legendary stunt man, Knievel, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Producing the movie will be Mike DeLuca and Dana Brunetti, the duo that just signed on to produce white-hot adaptation “Fifty Shades of Grey” for Universal Pictures and Focus Features.

For those too young to remember, “Knievel became a household name in the 1970s for his nationally televised motorcycle jumps,” THR reports. “Ever the showman, Knievel became recognizable for his use of a Stars-and-Stripes getup and known for his 433 broken bones. At the height of his celebrity, he gained endorsements from Harley-Davidson and a toy line by the Ideal Toy Company. Knievel died in 2007 at the age of 69.”

Tatum’s stuntman movie is being based on Stuart Barker’s 2008 book “Life of Evel.”

The hunky Hollywood star is also appearing in an upcoming movie about the life of Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz.
