MUSIC mogul Irving Azoff — who manages Christina Aguilera, Van Halen and the Eagles — is embroiled in a behind-the-scenes battle with popular LA architect Scott Mitchell over work done on Azoff’s multimillion dollar Beverly Hills estate, Page Six has learned.
Azoff and Mitchell have gone to arbitration over what a source said were alleged delays and cost overruns.
We’re told that powerful Azoff was introduced to Mitchell — whose past projects include Nobu in Malibu, Calif. — by Sandy Gallin, the music manager-turned-home-designer for showbiz tycoons like Jeffrey Katzenberg and Jimmy Iovine.
But when Azoff and his wife, Shelli, hired Mitchell for a project at their primary residence in Beverly Hills, which has been described by Variety as “a hulking 12,600-plus-square-foot Tudor-style pile,” the relationship apparently went south.
“Irving and Shelli hired Scott on the recommendation of Sandy to work on their home,” the former estate of “Wuthering Heights” screen legend Merle Oberon, a source told Page Six.
But our source said that as the project progressed, Azoff and Mitchell fought over the timetable to finish the job and the budget.
Although there is no litigation, the parties have taken the matter to arbitration, we’re told.
Representatives for Azoff, the former CEO of Ticketmaster and executive chairman of Live Nation, and for Mitchell’s Los Angeles studio didn’t get back to us.
The Azoffs reportedly also own homes in, Malibu and La Quinta, Calif., as well as a Snowmass, Colo., ski spot. And, in 2013, they reportedly snapped up a Holmby Hills estate — with five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and 1 ¹/₂ manicured acres — for $16 million, to live in while their Beverly Hills residence was being renovated. The home also came with formal dining and breakfast rooms, a library, a family room with bar, a covered outdoor patio, plus a spa, s pool, s pool house and a guesthouse.
