Roman Polanski will not be extradited to LA

Legendary film director Roman Polanski will not be extradited to Los Angeles to face sentencing in his decades-old statutory rape case, Poland’s supreme court announced Tuesday.

Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro filed a formal appeal with the court in May to overturn a 2015 ruling that prevented the 83-year-old Polanski’s extradition to the US.

The supreme court “is dismissing the appeal,” said Judge Michal Laskowski, ending Poland’s part in Polanski’s seemingly never-ending rape saga, the Daily Mail reported.

In his decision, Laskowski noted that the court’s role was to ensure that due process had been followed by the lower court.

The French-Polish “Rosemary’s Baby” director was arrested for drugging and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl at his Los Angeles home in 1977.

He later fled the country after a plea bargain with prosecutors and the judge in the case went south.
