Katie Cassidy is opening up about her estranged relationship with late father David Cassidy, whom she revealed she didn’t meet until she was well into elementary school.
“I didn’t meet my father until I was in the fourth grade,” Cassidy, 31, told Us Weekly. “The world doesn’t know that. Not because I’m hiding it, it just hasn’t been discussed. My biological father and I had a really good relationship at one point. He was one of my close friends and gave me wonderful advice.”
The late “Partridge Family” star passed away in November after suffering organ failure. Upon his death, it was reported that he excluded Katie from his will and left his $150,000 in assets to son Beau Devin Cassidy. Despite being cut out of his will, the “Flash” alum had nothing but kind words about her father.
“My dad was a wonderful, wonderful person. Sadly, he had some demons,” she shared. “There is a silver lining in all of that. You live and learn and it has brought my family closer together so I’m grateful for that.”
Shortly after his death, Katie tweeted the “I Think I Love You” crooner’s final, tragic words: “So much wasted time.”
