It was an in-toe-resting weekend for Armie Hammer‘s family.
After an Instagram video of his 2-year-old son, Ford, sucking on his dad’s toes went viral over the weekend, Hammer’s wife, Elizabeth Chambers, responded to the backlash.
“It wasn’t seven minutes … more like five seconds,” Chambers, 36, commented on Perez Hilton’s Instagram post of the since-expired story, which Hammer originally captioned, “This happened for a solid 7 minutes … #footfetishonfleek.”
The comment, which has since been deleted, continued, “Our son likes to play with people’s feet and I put the video on our family stream because this phase is an ongoing joke. Sharing the video on Instagram was def not the best move on A’s part, but I can assure you that our children’s safety and well-being is always our first priority.”
The video quickly began trending and drawing criticism over the weekend.
“When I saw Armie Hammer is trending, I was worried it might be because he put his foot in his mouth, and, well, I was close,” one user wrote.
Another commented, “TOTALLY NOT FUNNY … inappropriate.”
Hammer and Chambers, who have been married since 2010, also share a 4-year-old daughter named Grace.
