Questions are swirling around statements Kevin O’Leary made after his boat crashed into another vessel in Canada, killing two people.
The “Shark Tank” star alleged that the other boat, a larger, 13-person vessel, had no lights on at the time and that it fled the scene following the collision Saturday night on Lake Joseph in Ontario.
But police had a different account.
“Both vessels had left the scene and when they reached the location, both vessels were in touch with ambulance for emergency services,” said Joe Scali, spokesman for the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police, according to Global News.
Meanwhile, a source told TMZ that the larger boat did have its lights on at the time of the 11:30 p.m. crash.
Other sources told the gossip site that O’Leary believes there’s video of the crash to prove that the lights weren’t on.
The accident left Suzana Brito, 48, of Ontario, and Gary Poltash, 64, of Florida, dead.
O’Leary said his wife, Linda, was driving their boat at the time. She was given a DUI test and passed. A third person aboard their vessel was injured and received stitches at the hospital, TMZ said.
The reality star has said he’s fully cooperating with authorities.
