Sam Smith celebrates first time wearing heels on the red carpet

Sam Smith is clicking their heels with happiness.

The “Stay With Me” singer, 27, took to Instagram on Tuesday to celebrate their first time wearing high shoes on the red carpet.

“I’ve just got home from a gorgeous evening and as I was walking to my front door I stopped and listened to my heels clonking against the floor. And I just thought ‘F—K YES’!!,” Smith captioned a photo of their black Gucci boots.

“There was a time where I thought I’d never ever ever be able to be myself like this in front of the industry or anyone.”

Though Tuesday’s GQ Men of the Year Awards may have marked Smith’s first time gracing the carpet in heels, they have strutted their stuff in the style on social media many times, recently channeling Gloria Estefan in red pumps and gushing over their perfect everyday platforms.

Celebrities and fans flocked to Smith’s comment section to heap on the praise. “So proud of you 😍,” Demi Lovato wrote, while Natasha Bedingfield said, “Love u and love this story so much!”

To complete their look for the big night, Smith wore a black suit with a sheer lace button-up underneath.
