Chris Hemsworth‘s wife, Elsa Pataky, is standing up for her brother-in-law Liam Hemsworth following his split from Miley Cyrus.
According to Hola! magazine, Pataky was at the launch of a lingerie line in Madrid when she responded to reporters’ questions about Liam and Cyrus.
“My brother-in-law, well … After a relationship that you’ve dedicated 10 years to, he’s a little bit down, but he’s coping well,” the 43-year-old actress said. “He’s a strong boy and he deserves the best, I think he deserves much better.”
Pataky, who wed the elder Hemsworth in 2010, added, “You always find support in your family, and he’s joined at the hip with his brother, who has been there to give all the strength he needed.”
Liam, 29, and Cyrus, 26, announced their separation in August after less than a year of marriage.
“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” Cyrus’ camp said in a statement at the time. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
After the announcement, Liam was spotted out surfing in Australia and spending time with Chris, 36.
Cyrus quickly moved on with Brody Jenner’s ex Kaitlynn Carter, but their relationship fizzled after a month. She is currently dating Australian singer Cody Simpson.
Meanwhile, Liam was spotted holding hands and getting cozy with “Dynasty” star Maddison Brown last month.
