Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock reach divorce settlement
Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock have finally reached a settlement in their bitter divorce battle, per TMZ.
According to the outlet, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon signed off on the terms.
Clarkson, 39, has reportedly been granted primary custody of their two children — daughter River, 7, and son Remington, 5 — while Blackstock, who resides in Montana, will have the kids one weekend a month.
Clarkson will keep the former couple’s Montana ranch, though Blackstock is allowed to live there until June 1. In the meantime, he must cough up $12,500 a month for rent.
The “Breakaway” singer previously agreed to give Blackstock over 5 percent of the rural estate. His share equates to $908,800 of its $17,750,000 estimated value.
Clarkson initially won the heavily fought-over home last October, but Blackstock argued it was “marital property” and not part of their prenuptial agreement.
TMZ reports that Blackstock will now get spousal support — $115,000 a month — but that expires in January 2024.
Blackstock and reps for Clarkson did not immediately return Page Six’s requests for comment.
The news of Clarkson and Blackstock’s settlement agreement comes nearly a month after the pop star and talk show host filed a request to legally change her last name to Brianne.
The “American Idol” winner stated that she has “a desire” to make her middle name her new last name, according to court documents filed Monday and obtained by Us Weekly.
“My new name more fully reflects who I am,” she explained.
A court hearing regarding the petition is scheduled for March 28.
The Grammy winner filed for divorce from the former talent manager in June 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage. They were declared legally single in August 2021.
After enduring such tumultuous — and expensive — divorce proceedings, Clarkson joked in December 2021 that she’ll be “single forever.”
