Vivica A. Fox tears up over Jada Pinkett Smith’s response to Oscars slap

Vivica A. Fox got very emotional speaking about Jada Pinkett Smith’s “self-righteous” response to Will Smith’s now-infamous slap of Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.

The “Kill Bill” actress appeared on “The Wendy Show” Thursday and was asked by fellow guest co-host Carson Kressley what she thought about Jada’s recent comments on her “Red Table Talk” show.

“This is going to be difficult for me,” Fox, 57, began, already starting to get choked up. “These are my peers. I’ve done a movie with both them.”

She starred with Jada in “Set It Off” and Will in “Independence Day,” the latter of which she said “absolutely changed my life.”

“It made me cry,” Fox said of Jada’s remarks. “I really felt that to be a partner to Will Smith — whose career basically took a crumble that night … I felt to be a good partner, there was no accountability.”

The “Two Can Play That Game” star then pointed out, “Let’s not forget that Chris Rock was assaulted. We cannot forget that.”

Fox said, however, she has “love for the Smiths” and their children, whom she “watched grow up,” but she just “wished that we could have had a little bit more accountability and for it to not seem so self-righteous on Jada’s part.”

Kressley, 52, added that he thought the “Girls Trip” star seemed like a “robot” in the clip, and Fox agreed, “It was a little cold.”

On Wednesday, Jada said on the latest episode of her Facebook Watch series that it is her “deepest hope” that Will and Rock, 57, will “have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile.”

“The state of the world today, we need them both,” she continued. “And we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that’s keep figuring out this thing called life together.”

Will slapped Rock live at the 2022 Oscars after the comedian likened Jada’s bald head — which is a result of her alopecia, a hair loss condition — to “G.I. Jane.”

Although Fox disapproves of how Jada has responded, she recently told Page Six that she applauds Will for addressing the incident moments after it happened during his acceptance speech for Best Actor for his starring role in “King Richard.”

“I just love that Will was man enough to stand up and to apologize that night, you know?” she told us. “Who knows what got into him, but we’re gonna pray for him. He’s still Will Smith. He’s still Will Smith.”
