Meghan Markle gave Prince Harry ‘silent support’ at Queen’s funeral: expert

Meghan Markle offered Prince Harry “silent support” during Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on Monday, according to a body language expert.

“The best description of Meghan’s body language at the funeral was ‘understated,'” body language expert and author Judi James tells Page Six exclusively.

“She seemed to offer a continuation of that silent support to her husband while sitting and walking with a look of dignity tinged with sadness.”

James also noted that the couple’s much-discussed handholding, for which they have received some flack, was “kept to a minimum,” although they did appear to touch hands as they walked together out of the service.

According to James, the Duke of Sussex, 38, appeared to be struggling the most during the service for his beloved grandmother.

“Walking beside, but a large distance apart from his brother [Prince William], his puckered brows and rapid blinking suggested the onset of tears,” noted James.

“When he watched the coffin being unloaded there was the sucking in of the lips, rocking from side to side and shoulder roll that he had performed before to suggest he was bracing himself emotionally.”

In the end, though, it was Markle, 41, who became visibly emotional at the funeral.

She was photographed gently wiping away tears while her lip quivered as the late Queen’s coffin was transferred into a hearse at Wellington Arch.

The “Suits” alum was not the only member of the royal family who shed tears at the monarch’s funeral service.

King Charles III was also seen wiping away tears during the service as he sat beside the queen consort.

Princess Charlotte, 7, also teared up as the Queen’s coffin was moved from a gun carriage to a hearse. She was comforted by her mother, Kate Middleton.

It’s been a difficult week for Prince Harry and Markle, who have seemingly been treated differently by the royal family since they opted out of royal life in 2020.

The couple was invited — and later uninvited — from a state reception for world leaders and foreign leaders last Friday.

Page Six exclusively reported that they only found out after reading about the “disinvite” in the press.

Prince Harry, who served 10 years in the military, was also barred from wearing his military uniform to the Queen’s funeral. The duke was stripped of his military titles when he stepped down as a working member of the royal family.
