Elvira throws shade at Kylie Jenner’s Halloween costume
Elvira has approved of Kylie Jenner’s Halloween look, but thinks the makeup mogul could’ve done more to credit the original Mistress of the Dark.
“I didn’t get a heads up that Kylie was doing the costume, but she did the costume justice and it was very flattering,” Elvira, whose real name is Cassandra Peterson, told TMZ Tuesday, before adding, “It would have been even more flattering if she tagged me.”
Jenner, 25, shared a slew of sizzling Instagram snaps of herself dressed as the horror hostess, dubbing herself “Kyvira.”
In addition to sporting Elvira’s signature sky-high black beehive wig, plunging black gown and dramatic cat-eye-and-red-lip combo, the Kylie Cosmetics founder also slipped into a recreation of the goth-glam icon’s tasseled spider bra from the 1988 cult classic “Elvira: Mistress of the Dark.”
Peterson, 71, threw additional shade by posting a meme of Jenner’s barely-there ensemble on her own Instagram page — without tagging the “Kardashians” star.
“In a world full of Kardashians be an Elvira,” the post read.
“Nothing comes close to the original,” wrote one follower in the comment section, while another added, “Imitation might be the highest form of flattery but…she could never!!!”
However, a third person wrote, “I think it’s very cool that she did a whole set inspired by and honoring you.”
Peterson doubled down on her stance in the comments, writing that it “would’ve been nice” to get some recognition from Jenner.
Peterson’s character first appeared onscreen in the 1981 in the TV program “‘Elvira’s Movie Macabre,” before starring in 1988’s feature film “Elvira: Mistress of the Dark.”
