Lea Michele honors Cory Monteith on 10th anniversary of his death: ‘Miss you big guy’
One decade after Cory Monteith’s death, Lea Michele honored the late actor with a touching tribute.
“Hey you. 10 years,” the “Funny Girl” star wrote on Instagram Thursday alongside a black-and-white throwback photo of the former couple. “It feels like only yesterday that you were here and yet a million years ago all at the same time.
“I hold all of our memories in my heart where they will stay safe and never forgotten,” continued Michele, who dated Monteith from 2012 until his 2013 death. “We miss you every day and will never forget the light you to brought to us all.”
She concluded, “I miss you big guy. I hope you found Taylor up there and are playing the drums together. 🤍”
In the comments, the actress’ followers speculated that “Taylor” referred to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in March 2022.
Michele, 36, and Monteith’s relationship began while they were co-starring as Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson, respectively, on “Glee.”
In December 2012, she gushed to Marie Claire about “no one know[ing her] better” than her partner.
“I don’t even remember a time when he wasn’t my boyfriend,” the Broadway star said. “For the first time in my life, I feel really, really settled and happy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”

Michele then wrote in an April 2013 statement that she was “grateful and proud” of Monteith for voluntarily entering rehab for a drug addiction.
Three months later, however, he died of combined heroin and alcohol toxicity at age 31.
Michele, who has a “Finn” tattoo honoring Monteith, told her Instagram followers in July 2019 that his “light always remains.”
Earlier that same year, the “Scream Queens” alum got married to Zandy Reich. The couple are the parents of 2-year-old son Ever.
Kevin McHale, Amber Riley, Jenna Ushkowitz and more of Michele’s co-stars have also honored Monteith over the years.
