Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton — who started dating in 2015 before getting engaged in 2020 — tied the knot in an intimate wedding at his Oklahoma ranch on July 3, 2021.
From co-stars on “The Voice” to husband and wife, Page Six is breaking down the artists’ love story: how it started, major relationship milestones and all the details of their wedding.
Just friends … at first
The No Doubt frontwoman announced in 2014 that she was joining “The Voice” as a coach alongside fellow superstars Shelton, Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams.
Although Stefani and Shelton’s on-air chemistry was apparent from the start, the performers began their working relationship as pals, as she was married at the time to musician Gavin Rossdale while Shelton was married to fellow country singer Miranda Lambert.
Single (again) and ready to mingle — with each other
The singers’ fun and flirty friendship grew — until both stars ended up single at the same time in the summer of 2015.
Shelton filed for divorce from Lambert, his second wife, after four years of marriage. Then just weeks later, Stefani and Rossdale shocked fans by calling it quits after 13 years of marriage and three children.
Stefani, who had stepped away from “The Voice” the prior season, returned for Season 9 alongside Shelton. The pair leaned on each other during mutual hard times as friends while navigating their divorces.
“I haven’t met one coach that’s been on this show that I wouldn’t consider at this point a really good friend,” Shelton told “Entertainment Tonight.” “Any of the coaches that I’ve worked on with this show I can call at any moment and talk to.”
Romance rumors — and denials — heat up
“It’s completely untrue,” a rep for Stefani said in September 2015 after rumors began heating up that the singers were having their own off-screen romantic duet.
A few months later, Ryan Seacrest asked Stefani point-blank whether she and Shelton were dating. While sidestepping the question, Stefani disclosed that she did, however, “think [Shelton’s] hot.”
But soon after the interview, the couple changed their tune and Stefani’s rep confirmed to Page Six that Stefani was in fact dating Shelton.
The new couple leaves no doubt they’re dating
With the cat of the bag, Stefani and Shelton started sharing romantic moments on social media as they grew closer. Oklahoma native Shelton gifted Stefani with a horse, which she gushed about on Instagram.
The couple then made their public debut at the Vanity Fair 2016 Oscar Party, where Stefani performed.
The lovestruck crooners also performed “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. They ended the song hand in hand.
Proving things were getting serious, in a July 2016 interview with Billboard, Shelton revealed, “Gwen saved my life. Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician? You can’t even imagine the similarities in our divorces.”
Mushy PDA ‘disgusts’ pals
Close friend Levine said in 2017 that the couple’s relationship was “beautiful,” albeit a bit over the top in the PDA department.
“They found each other at really interesting times in their lives,” Levine told Howard Stern in October 2017 during a radio interview. “It’s really beautiful … and it’s real, man.”
They’re “so in love it’s disgusting,” he added of his “Voice” colleagues.
Despite the couple’s obvious infatuation with each other, all seemed quiet on the marriage front. Until …
Engagement rumors swirl
Despite Stefani’s ringless finger, the pair couldn’t escape engagement rumors.
In an April 2018 interview, Ellen DeGeneres asked Stefani about future wedding plans. Although the pop star said she thinks about marriage “all the time,” no engagement news broke.
Shelton and Stefani’s third song together — “Nobody But You,” released in December 2019 — said a lot about the couple’s intentions. In an interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Shelton addressed the lyrics, “I don’t wanna look back in 30 years and wonder who you’re married to” — not exactly helping to tamp down rumors of a secret engagement.
“I love the rumors,” he said. “Those rumors are great. Anybody that thinks I’m married to Gwen already, I love it. My god. Who wouldn’t want to be married to Gwen Stefani?”
Stefani and Shelton show everyone they are ‘Happy Anywhere’ during quarantine
Although they still weren’t engaged, Stefani and Shelton embraced domesticity during quarantine at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch. “Literally it’s like ‘Little House on the Prairie’ here,” Shelton said on “The Tonight Show” in April 2020.
Shelton also proved his trust in Stefani, letting her give him a “quarantine mullet.”
After their previous duet, “Nobody But You,” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart in July, the country music singer surprised fans with a quarantine-inspired duet featuring Stefani called “Happy Anywhere.” But the past year spent locked inside together did nothing to derail the lovebirds whose lives were about to change in just a few months when …
They finally get engaged
The couple announced their engagement on Oct. 27, 2020 in an Instagram post showing off her massive diamond ring.
“@blakeshelton yes please! 💍🙏🏻 gx” she captioned an image of the pair kissing.
“I heard a YES!” Shelton captioned his image.
Wedding planning takes center stage
Shelton said on the “Today” show in March 2021 that the wedding was “hopefully [happening] this summer. With COVID, it looks like it may be OK, but I don’t know.”
‘Excuse me Mr.’, did he put a wedding ring on it?
Photos exclusively obtained by The Post in June — showing Stefani wearing a diamond band on her left ring finger — sparked rumors that the couple may have secretly tied the knot. The pics came just after she posted a photo of herself captioned, “SHE’S GETTING MARRIIIEEEED.”
Reps for Stefani and Shelton didn’t comment on the ring pics.
Newlyweds at last
Stefani and Shelton walked down the aisle on July 3, 2021 — leaving no doubt they were married after sharing a bevy of photos from the intimate, 40-guest wedding.
Their “Voice” pal Carson Daly officiated the nuptials at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch, later describing the day as “perfectly them.”
“It was as elegant and refined and cool as Gwen is, and it was as country and down-home and fun as Blake is,” Daly said on the “Today” show three days after the wedding.
Guests included Stefani’s parents, Dennis and Patty, and her three sons, Kingston, Zuma and Apollo, with Rossdale. Shelton’s friendly on-screen nemesis Levine, who left “The Voice” in 2019, did not attend the wedding, as he was believed to be in Miami recording.
