Jack's father and Hawkes come to blows and are on the verge of a gunfight one day after some cattle from the Hawkes herd is found on Hanley's ranch. Jack, who is not used to bloodshed, insists that he can settle things without guns, prompting his disappointed father to send him away. Unknown to the ranchers, Hawkes's foreman, Blair, has secretly been plotting to take over the Hawkes ranch and planted the cattle on the Hanley's property. To further his aims, he foments trouble between the ranchers, who wound each other in a shootout. Hawkes's daughter Nancy decides that forcing the two old men to recover in the same bed will stop their feud, but while they recuperate and argue, Blair continues to steal cattle. Meanwhile, Jack, who has ridden toward the border, is hungry and tries to steal some bread from the camp of former outlaw Pedro Romero. After catching Jack in the act, Pedro listen to his story and decides to teach him how to behave like a bad man and regain his father's respect. Several months later, after Jack proves his mettle by saving Pedro's daughter from Mullins, a bullying crook, he returns home. Styling himself as "The Terror of Pueblo," Jack stops Blair by besting him in a fight, thus winning his father's respect and Nancy's hand. Written by AFI See less
