One day at the office the boss asks King if he is an Elk. The latter says that he is not, and then the boss says that it is an essential and that he ought to join at once. So all the arrangements are made and King's pal tells his wife that he may not be home that night. That night the wife has all sorts of fears of the torture to which her husband is being subjected and has visions of King with his head off, etc. What really happens is that King goes to the meeting and gets royally "tight." On the way home he thinks that everyone he meets must be an Elk. When at last he does get home he has the most terrible dreams about all the animals in the world and thinks that they are all elks. Then he gives his wife the mysterious sign of the order and the whole picture fades out into one large Elk. Written by
