The physician attending Lillian informs the policeman that an operation is necessary to bring about the young child's normal condition. Murphy gives the doctor his pay check and tells him to make the girl well again. The operation is a successful one. Lillian's first thought is of her policeman friend, Murphy. He having been discharged from the police force for neglect of duty, is not found on his beat by the little girl. Two years later Murphy returns to the city in want. Lillian and her mother, in the meantime, had prospered by the death of a relative. Murphy is found in front of Lillian's home dying of starvation. He is carried into the luxurious home, where he is given the best that money can hay. He recognizes his little sweetheart.
