Polidor contrives to see his sweetheart secretly in the farm kitchen. The father is heard returning, and Polidor is hidden in a hen coop. He is discovered and hauled forth by the farmer, but gains entrances again via the chimney, and hides in the grandfather clock-only to be again discovered. He arranges to meet his sweetheart in the bake-house, but once again is threatened with discovery, and takes refuge in the oven. The fire is lighted, and Polidor has a warm time, but when he finds the heat too great to bear, and emerges, munching the biscuits he has picked up, the parents can not any longer withstand so pertinacious a suitor, and consent to their match.
