They find the work tiring, and at last hit upon a scheme to escape its burden. One of them attires himself in female attire, and soon succeeds in attracting the attention of a passing young man, Polidor, whom "she" induces to return with "her " to the room. Then the other young man returns, and, exclaiming it is her husband, the sham young lady persuades Polidor to pose as a porter, and to load himself with furniture. After having stood drinks all round, he falls foul of a body of real porters who are on strike, and is assaulted as a "blackleg." Written by
