Surrounded by fifty years of painting, sculpture, frames, fabric, books, the archeologia and the ephemera of her frenzied imagination, Yolanda says "I'm a prisoner of rubbish". Meanwhile, her older brother has moved in with his grand piano. The esteemed New York AIDS physician, Dr. Joseph Sonnabend, has returned reluctantly to a country he has little affection for, a house he hates and a sister with whom he feels he has nothing in common. Into this heady mix, filmmaker Thomas Burstyn arrives to make a documentary about Yolanda and Joseph, his aunt and uncle. But as Thomas discovers, the camera does not always tell the truth.
