Inspired You: Breathing New Life into Your Heart and Home Hardcover – November 5, 2012
Purchase options and add-ons
Some girls get giddy over a new pair of shoes. Marian Parsons gets giddy over room makeovers. With a lot of ingenuity, a little bit of effort, and a tight budget, she has transformed her home into a beautiful space and filled her heart with a lot more contentment. Thousands have found inspiration at Marian’s blog, missmustardseed.com, and now she shares dozens of new projects, ideas, and DIY adventures in the pages of Inspired You.
Marian will remind you that homes don’t have to be magazine material to be special, comfortable, and inviting. The goal you’re working toward is home. Not a perfect home. Not an “impress the neighbors” home. Just home―one whose walls and rooms tell the story of the family who lives there. Beautiful homes start with inspiration and a willingness to try. So uncover your God-given creativity. Be encouraged, be willing, and be inspired.

I would classify myself as a moderate DIY personality. I love decorating my home, refinishing and painting furniture, embroidery, sewing, etc. but these are not skills I have had throughout my 44 years. Many of these skills I have taught myself in the last 5-10 years
Marian's book is perfect for both the beginner and someone like myself who has been decorating for awhile but needs some ongoing encouragement. Her book is honestly better than any decorating book I have read.
In the past when I have purchased decorating books they are typically full of lovely pictures and even some small projects you can take on yourself but they can be boring to read. What makes this book special is that Marian is very real and down to earth and women can relate to her. She is humble and discusses how to realistically make your home beautiful on a tight budget. She actually shows photos of her home both staged and in its realistic state, you know the same home we all live in, the one with laundry and paper piles. Because of how Marian's has chose to write this book; like a letter written to a close girlfriend or inspirational message versus solely an instruction manual, makes it very hard to put down.
I love how Marian's book shows examples of budget friendly projects and step by step instructions how to refinish and paint furniture using both milk and chalk paint. I really enjoy how she continually encourages other by sharing that her home was made lovely over time while managing her roles as mother, wife, business owner and staying involved in her church and community. She periodically discusses the encouragement she received herself from family. I also enjoy how she discusses making your home comfortable and not just picture perfect.
I hope in the future I can share my passions and inspire others as Marian has. She is truly a blessing and talented decorator.

Miss Mustard Seedで検索すると、著者のブログが出てきます。
本のほうが写真は綺麗ですが、大体どんなインテリアかはブログでチェックして、
好みだったら本を購入すると言うのがいいかも。
