    With respect to the hardware/capabilities as a Bluetooth speaker, I'd rate the R7 as 5 stars. We've used this as an audio solution in our living room/dining room/bar area. It's a large, connected space with a slanted, vaulting ceiling. The R7 is a much more aesthetic solution than multiple, smaller speakers. I'm impressed with the sound quality. Placing the R7 between the living room/dining room along a wall has allowed us to evenly fill both rooms with rich, dynamic sound.Tip #1 - the multi room app is still very flakey and leaves a lot to be desired. If I was reliant on this app to make this product work, this would be a one star review.*update: a new iOS version of the multi room app was released on 7/28/2015. MUCH better than the previous versions and stable enough to support proper streaming*Tip #2 - elevate off the floor for much better bass. You'll be surprised what a difference this makes.

    I started with an R3 and R5, but the R7 is definitely the one to get.
    It's expensive and a bit strange looking, but it has a dynamic and balanced sound.
    Lots of bottom end punch and it can play very loud without distorting.
    However, it takes a long time to break in fully.
    The tweeter will sound flat and veiled for over 30 hours before opening up.
    At first I thought I made a very expensive mistake, and wanted to get rid of it.
    When it finally broke in, the mids and highs opened up.
    Detail and vocals have a natural sound without overly exaggerated tinny highs or spitty sounding vocals.
    Also, the R7 is very picky about your Bluetooth and MP3 player.
    It sounds great on my Samsung Galaxy S5 using PowerAmp, but sounds flat when using Pulsar Pro and Neutron Player.

    I really wanted to love this speaker. When it stays connected to the wifi, it sounds lovely, and fills a room with rich, beautiful sound. However, it rarely stays connected, and it is more frustrating to deal with the connection problems than it is to simply get a different system, with a more reliable App. I tried contacting Samsung to troubleshoot this more than once, but it seems that the Samsung Multiroom App, even with recent updates, lags far behind the technology in the speaker itself. Unless you're only interested in using this as a very expensive Bluetooth speaker, try another product.

    I bought to fit this into the ceiling but Samsung does not recommend any kind of support for that. I asked tjust to point into some websites and it was said they dont do that. I bought 3 more Play 5 speakers from Sonos and set into others rooms. Multiple sources of speaker stand / support that you can trust it. It costs more but it is totally worth it.

    I've tried lots of speakers and have really struggled to find ones that produce the quality of sound that I'm looking for. Maybe I'm too fussy or expecting too much but I've not found any to date. I've tried Bose, Cambridge Audio, JBL and the Samsung R3 and found them all to be lacking. The sound from these speakers however, is really quite exceptional. Not massive in bass but more than the others and if you're playing music from your phone you can always tweak the sound using free apps like 'base booster '. Also you can use the Samsung multi room app to control the speaker including using the equaliser that comes as part of it but, to be honest I think the app is pretty awful. It's buggy and clunky. Anyway, you don't need it as you can just connect via Bluetooth and all is well - I've not seem much point in the WIFI setting to far. Great sound, weird looks and buggy software is my summary.
