--Main theme for 2022
Hope with Action Can Change the World
The Asahi World Forum 2022, the seventh in its series, will be held for 4 days from October 16 (Sun) to 19 (Wed) this year, with a main theme, “Hope with Action Can Change the World”.
The Forum is a flagship event of the Asahi Shimbun Company and has served as a platform to explore the paths, together with our readers, to achieve a sustainable Earth and human society where no one will be left behind.
COVID-19 has swept through the world for almost two and a half years, and we are still unsure what the world will be like in the post-COVID era. Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a significant shift has been taking place in the international community, the security environment and the global economic balance. Furthermore, global issues such as growing food insecurity, energy shortages and climate change are pressing.
We will discuss with world-class intellectuals what the world will be like and to find the practical pathway to a better, fairer world.
In response to COVID-19, we have held an online forum for the last two years. This year all sessions will be streamed online, while physical audiences will also be back in some sessions.
