Bristol City Under-21s were held to a goalless draw at Ashton Gate by Charlton Athletic as both sides spurned excellent scoring chances.
The Robins could have taken the lead with less than a minute on the clock when Olly Thomas was picked out excellently by a cross, but the forward could only turn his first-time effort over the bar.
Elijah Morrison would have been similarly disappointed to have not tested the keeper with his left-footed effort in the first half while Rob Atkinson came close to breaking the deadlock with a header early in the second period.
The away side had their fair share of chances but were unable to truly test Joe Duncan in the City net with the Robins stopper having very little to do over the course of the clash.
In the end, both sides were forced to settle for a point that helped City bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Cardiff City last time out, but Ali Hines will feel his side should have kept all three points in BS3.

Unfortunately, Morrison's delivery does little to test the away side's defence.

Time is running out for City to find an equaliser, albeit, it is unclear just how long they have as there is no fourth official at Ashton Gate this afternoon.
Huge block to deny Griffin
The City substitute had found himself with what appeared to be plenty of time on the ball just outside the Charlton penalty area, but the away side produced an excellent block to stop his effort before it could test the keeper.
Skinner close again
Some excellent footwork from the wideman to beat his marker, but his left-footed effort is blocked and the Reds are unable to make use of the resulting corner.

City are doing everything they can to carve out a winner and this time it's Luke Skinner's turn. His left-footed curling effort did little to trouble the keeper however.
Another City change
The Robins have turned to their bench once again as they look for a way to unpick this Charlton defence. Jack Griffin has been introduced in place of Zack Ali.

All 10 of the Robins outfield players are now camped in the Charlton half as City look for a winner at Ashton Gate.

James is afforded plenty of space on the right wing and while his cross into the penalty area was exellent, Morrison could only force his header onto the back of his marker.

Morrison has been the Robins' livewire throughout this clash and his pace wins the home side another corner.
Yellow card
Joseph James goes into the book and is perhaps fortunate that's all he's been given. The City forward clips the heels of the Charlton forward who is clean through, but the striker keeps his footing and blasts over. On another day that could have been red.
City on top again in the second half
Just as they did in the first period, City have started the second half on the front foot, even if they haven't produced that all-important goal. The momentum is certainly with the Robins at the moment.
Atkinson goes close!
The senior defender has managed to get unmarked from a City corner, but his free header is far too weak and somehow is kept out by the Charlton defence. Atkinson simply had to score there.
Well over from Zak Ali
The City midfielder will have seen his name in lights as the ball bounced out to him on the edge of the penalty area, but his strike caused the top of the South Stand more problems than the Charlton net.
Araoye receiving treatment
The versatile defender had gone up for a header as Charlton broke away and seemingly clashed heads with his opposite number. The physios are on and he's receiving some treatement so there is a break in play.
Big block from Campbell-Slowey
The City centre-back needed to be quick to deal with the effort after a fast break from the away side and managed to stick out a leg to block behind for a corner.

Not that is a bit dark and dingy in BS3 this afternoon but the floodlights have just flicked on inside Ashton Gate.

It couldn't have been much more comfortable for the City keeper, by Joe Duncan has easily gathered a longe-range effort early in the second half.

City came out of the blocks quickly and came close early on through Thomas but the rest of the second half was much more even. Perhaps the best chance came right at the end of the half when Morrison could only smash over from inside the penalty area.
Big tackle by Morrison
Araoye hds got himself in a tangle but luckily, Morrison was close behind the defender to put in an excellent sliding tackle and force a corner which Atkinson then did excellently to head clear.
City go close
Thomas benefits from a rather lucky deflection but his touch takes him too far away from goal. His eventual cut-back picks out Araoye who had ventured forward but he was unable to hit the target.
City free-kick wasted
City have the chance to test the Charlton backline as they get a free-kick out on the right wing, but Morrison's delivery is poor and easily cleared by the away side.
Free-kick to Charlton
Slightly clumsy by Araoye who gets caught the wrong side of the ball and gives away a needless free-kick just inside the the City half. Although it didn't come to anything, it's another warning for the Robins.
Over by Chaplin
Space has opened up for Tom Chaplin on the edge of the box and the midfielder tries his luck, but his long-range attempt is well over the bar.
Chance for Charlton
City are slightly lucky this is still level. The Robins react slowly to a short corner and after a bit of a scuffle in the box, the resulting shot is smashed past the post.
