This spooky season, Aldi is calling on households across the UK to unleash their inner monster and compete for the title of Britain's most terrifying abode. The winner will receive a prize of £1,000 in vouchers to spend in-store.

To help pick the most impressive displays, Aldi has recruited Halloween aficionado Darren Butler, the mastermind behind the eerie House of Halloween in Whitnash, Warwickshire.

Butler will judge entries based on their originality, creativity, and ability to thrill and chill passersby.

To enter, participants must submit a photo of their decorated house (last year's decorations are eligible), along with their full name and proof of age (entrants must be 18 or older), to aldiscariesthouse@clarioncomms.co.uk by October 22.

The winner will be announced on October 26, with one fortunate shopper receiving £1,000 in Aldi vouchers, reports the Express.

Launching the competition, Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: "Halloween is always an exciting time for our customers who consistently impress us with their elaborate and creative displays."

"This year, we're delighted to celebrate this passion by offering shoppers the chance to win £1,000 worth of Aldi vouchers for their hair-raising decorations!"

Competition judge Darren Butler added: "I'm excited to be working with Aldi on its search for Britian's scariest house."

"I've been decorating my house for the last three years and Halloween is my favourite event of the year so I can't wait to see what spooky spectacles await."

For those conjuring up some terrifying touches to their homes, Aldi's aisles are brimming with Halloween Specialbuys priced from just 99p.
