Many of us head out for a walk to blow off the cobwebs during the festive period. With more than 1,600 hectares of parks and green spaces, Bristol has a variety of walks available for all levels of ability.

So we have put together five of the best festive trails and footpaths to explore this Christmas and New Year. So once you've finished your Christmas dinner, instead of getting tucked up on the sofa straight away, why not put a scarf and some gloves on and head out to enjoy the great outdoors?

Follow the leader down the footpath from Hengrove Playpark to Hengrove Mounds Nature Reserve. The rural reserve south of the city centre offers quiet nature-spotting opportunities, wild meadow lands fit for exploring and Marshfield Farm’s infamous ice cream.

Eastville Park

Eastville Park

A stunning green space with ample space for four-legged friends, a large lake, two children’s play areas, running circuit, woodlands and wildflower meadows; Eastville Park has it all. Eastville Park is connected via the Frome Valley Walkway to Snuff Mills and Oldbury Court Estate, and well positioned for the hardiest walker looking to make extra room for pudding.

St George Park
