Panagiota Tania Stathaki was born in Athens, Greece.
She received the Masters degree in Electronics and
Computer Engineering from the Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering, National Technical University of Athens, Athens, Greece, and the
Ph.D. degree in Signal Processing from Imperial College, London, U.K. She was a
Lecturer with the Department of Information Systems and Computing, Brunel
University, London, U.K., and an Assistant Professor with the Department of
Technology Education and Digital Systems, University of Piraeus, Piraeus,
Greece. She is currently a Reader (Associate Professor) with the Department of
Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Imperial College. She has
internationally acknowledged research expertise in Image Processing, Computer
Vision and Machine Learning and, more specifically, image fusion, image
registration, change detection, object detection and recognition, and object
tracking. She has mainly been involved in defence, security, cultural heritage
and environmental monitoring applications and has collaborated with various UK
companies such as Dstl, General Dynamics, Selex Galileo and BAE Systems. She is actively involved in
various European Union and UK research projects and she has co-authored many
papers on signal and image processing and computer vision.
