A frustrated chap has taken to social media with a plea to keep Christmas dinner classic and free from trendy tweaks.
The annual Christmas dinner is sacred ground to many, complete with its golden roasties, succulent turkey, vibrant carrots, herby stuffing balls, and, for plenty, the piece de resistance, the rich, silky gravy. While families often introduce their own spin on the feast, one development has left @garron_music absolutely bewildered: the emergence of glitter gravy.
"Glitter gravy? Would you ever f**k off," he implored, declaring: "Leave my dinner alone," as footage showcasing a hearty drizzle of glimmering powder into luscious, traditional gravy played behind him.
WARNING: The following video contains strong language some viewers may find offensive.
Outraged, Garron denounced the gravy as "absolutely horrific," venting: "I know you've put this on the internet just to p**s me off. Well, it's f**king worked."
Witnessing the sparkly sauce envelop unsuspecting spuds, he continued his tirade, urging people to resist the urge to get too creative during meal prep, stating emphatically: "There's a time and a place to show off your personality," but for Garron, it was definitely not on his "f**king plate".
And when relatives offer to bring an inventive flair to the roast potatoes, for example, his no-nonsense rebuke is clear: "Nobody f**king asked you to."
He ranted: "Gravy and potatoes have been lovely for hundreds of years; stop trying to put paprika and weird s**t in them," adding: "Keep your spice rack to yourself" in terms of traditional Christmas fare.
"I don't care if you follow a celebrity chef on Instagram; you don't have to take it out on me. Leave things normal and simple, and f**k off and stay away from my dinner," he declared at the end of his rant.
Complaints emerged in the comments regarding the gravy's consistency well before any glitzy additions, with one person remarking: "Also that gravy is like water, the gravy should be almost sliceable." Echoing the sentiment, another quipped: "You should be able to trot a mouse on it," referring to how thick it should be.
"The intensity of this reaction is absolutely appropriate," concurred a TikTok user, expressing disdain for the idea of sparkly gravy over the classic brown. However, someone else remarked: "Just think of the glitter poops".
One commentator shared their own festive potato faux pas, stating: "I put garlic in potatoes 20 years ago. The outrage from my family! I've never tried again!"
