Scotland's 'whisky island' hiring staff for 2025 with accommodation included

A hotel on Scotland's 'whisky island' is currently hiring staff, with accommodation provided.

Islay is the fifth-largest Scottish island, situated in the Inner Hebrides. As reported by the Daily Record, the archipelago was recently named among the top 10 travel destinations in the world by Vogue.

At the moment, four-star hotel Another Place, The Machrie is looking to hire a Food and Beverage Assistant. The position would be full-time, with 40 hours of work per week.

The job comes with a salary of £24,960, as well as "a share of gratuities". Other benefits include a 50 per cent discount on food at the hotel's restaurant, use of its golf facilities, and staff meals on duty.

Staff are also able to take part in team activities organised throughout the year. These include distillery visits, quizzes, photo competitions, movie nights in the hotel’s screening room, and other social gatherings.

Another Place, The Machrie offers staff accommodation either on-site for those who don't drive or within a 10-minute drive from the hotel for those who have a car. The successful applicant will pay a "nominal accommodation contribution" of £52.85 per week.

The Food and Beverage Assistant role itself will involve greeting guests, taking food and drink orders, and handling cash and credit card transactions. Other responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and adhering to food safety standards.

In order to apply for the position, you must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. Basic math skills, a strong attention to detail, and a willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays are also required.
