Chris Sutton has told exasperated Tottenham fans that Ange Postecoglou is NOT going to change how he plays and has reminded them of why they wanted the Aussie in the first place.
A home collapse to Chelsea after being 2-0 up resulted in a 4-2 defeat, which comes on the back of a 1-0 loss at Bournemouth in midweek. Postecoglou had a word or two for the fans behind him during that game, but now there are pleas for the former Celtic boss to relent and adapt his style, or leave the North London club for a more flexible successor as they search for a trophy winning formula.
But Sutton has warned punters pleading with Ange to mix it up that they are wasting their breath. And that he id delivering exactly what they were crying out for after the turgid tenures of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, He told 606: "This is a guy who has had 25/26 years in coaching and this style has worked for him. Not just at Celtic, everywhere he's been. He's been a huge success.
"So if he has a weakness, it's his stubbornness in that respect. Spurs fans - remember when he got the job? You go back to when he got the job and why they wanted him, Robbie Williams singing songs about him and what have you, Angeball and all that.
'Spurs fans have to decide. They want to be a winning team? Well they haven't won anything for years.
"When he got the job, it's because they wanted to see entertaining football. You can't say you're not seeing entertaining football.
"But he will not compromise. He will carry on playing the same way, so Spurs fans, do you want him to carry on playing the same way or would you like there to be a batter balance?"
A reunion with Rangers is next up for Postecoglou as Spurs head to Ibrox on Europa League duty this Thursday. And Sutton cheekily offered up a scenario that could put the manager back in the good books.
"Rangers are back in from, aren't they? They beat Ross County 3-0," said Sutton.
"So you'd keep him for Thursday. Say Spurs go and beat Rangers 8-0, would you keep him beyond that?"
