Wolverhampton drive-by attack as three women shot as police hunt for gunman

Three women were left injured after a terrifying drive-by shooting in Wolverhampton.

The chaos unfolded on Frederick Street near St John's Retail Park at about 11pm on Friday (September 27), with West Midlands Police racing to the scene following reports of "shots being fired from a car". The emergency services arrived to take the three women to hospital.


Cops are now hunting the shooter who bolted from the scene.

Two of the victims have been given the all-clear from the hospital, while one remains under medical care but is stable, The Mirror reported.

West Midlands Police released a statement: "We received reports of shots being fired from a car on Frederick Street at around 11pm. Three women were taken to hospital. Two women have since been discharged. A third woman remains in hospital in a stable condition.

"We are carrying out a CCTV trawl- and other enquiries - to identify those involved. We're working to establish why this happened and we'd ask anyone with information to speak to us. Such violence is unacceptable and won't be tolerated. We will have an increased presence in the area to reassure the local community."

Police are asking anyone with information to phone on 101, quoting incident number 5427 of 27 September, or call Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
