Man cut in half by forklift says he's finally seeing 'light at the end of the tunnel'
WARNING, DISTRESSING CONTENT: Loren Schauers suffered life-changing injuries when he was just 18 after being involved in a horror forklift accident, now he has spoken of finally seeing some 'light' in his situation
A man who was horrifically cut in half by a forklift is finally starting to see 'light at the end of the tunnel' after enduring six months of excruciating pain. Loren Schauers, an inspiring figure online, suffered life-altering injuries at just 18 years old while labouring on a remote site in Montana, US.
He was operating a forklift across a bridge when it plunged 50ft to the ground, landing on top of him and trapping him beneath the heavy machinery. Despite remaining conscious throughout the entire ordeal, which saw his right arm torn from his body and every bone from his pelvis down crushed, Loren's positivity has been unwavering.
Doctors were forced to perform a hemicorporectomy surgery - amputating everything below the waist - to save his life. Since the near-fatal incident in September 2019, Loren's life has changed dramatically, but he remains incredibly upbeat.

The couple, known for their candid social media posts about Loren's life and the obstacles he faces, have recently opened up about his health struggles.
In a heartfelt update on Sunday (8 December), Sabia shared the tough six-month period her husband has endured due to kidney stones, which are not only excruciatingly painful but can also cause kidney infections as per NHS advice.
"We've been trying to tackle the kidney infections at home and he's been getting antibiotics, but it just keeps coming back," she said.
"He'll be without antibiotics for like five days and the infection is already back. So finally, we got him admitted to the hospital to get some IV antibiotics in his system to try and just knock it out."
The pair are eagerly awaiting Loren's surgery scheduled for January, as revealed on their Instagram (@loren. schauers).
Loren, who's been battling through a brutal six months of agony, is finally spotting some 'light at the end of the tunnel'.
"I don't have to go on a full script," he explained. "The doc was considering putting me on antibiotics three times a week to prevent infections from becoming full blown."
He added: "He knows that three times a week isn't ideal, but it's less damaging than a repeated frequent full cycle."
