It was one of 2024's most hotly anticipated titles, but Star Wars Outlaws was received tepidly by critics and fans alike - but it's new patch could change its perception.
The Title Update 1.4.0 patch comes in at between 7.44GB and 10.18GB depending on what platform you own, and it packs that download with a laundry list of fixes, as covered in Ubisoft's latest blog post.
Chief among them is an entry that reads "Notable updates to stealth and combat that allow players greater choice, including using stealth or reaching for their blaster, even in syndicate territories in cities."

Given one of the biggest complaints about Outlaws was its insta-fail stealth sections that stopped players dead in their tracks, it's a very welcome change - but that's not all.
Star Wars Outlaws' new patch could be a game-changer
The game, which is now also on Steam, will also see AI improvements for enemies that weren't the sharpest tools in the space shed when it launched in August.
Even combat has seen an overhaul, with enemies getting weak points, and weapons have been 're-tuned'.
"Re-tuned Kay's blaster and pickup weapons to improve the combat experience, including being able to carry two handed weapons in more situations" the patch notes say, which is in direct response to Kay being unable to use a two-handed weapon as soon as she climbed a ladder or opened a door before.

Will this give Outlaws another chance to shine? That remains to be seen, but given November and December are quieter for Ubisoft with Assassin's Creed: Shadows being delayed, it might be just the push some players need to jump back in or try it out for the first time.
